I’m running the edlebrock x1 on my mild 350. I’m about to pull the 97s off to replace the throttle shafts and I’m tossing around the idea of ditching the x1 for the offy that I have laying around but I don’t want to lose any performance. I’m only running the outter 4 carbs at the moment. Anyone have any experience with both of them and care to share their stores or advice?
The short version of what could be a long story is that the Dragmaster and X-1 are designed with high rpm performance and their low to mid rpm manners can be a less than great. The Pacemaker has balance tubes and and less runner volumn and the carb spacing allows the use of Holley 94s if desired. On the drag strip the X-1 has the performance edge. On the street the Pacemaker is a more drivable.
