Well me and Oldsguy stuck a T-5 in my car last night to a sbc block for mock up. The block is an 87 350 and the ****** is an 86 out of a Camaro 305. Here's the deal, don't laugh, with the bolt pattern correct the ****** is ****ed to the left, that's the only way the dowel pins will align. I worked in the Luxery car side and don't know about every sbc thing out there. Is this thing suppost to be at 10 o'clock? I can get a picture later for I had to go to work today. Thanks for the help, and Like I said don't laugh I'll find you Mick
You have a third gen camaro bellhousing. They rotate the transmission so the shifter is in a decent place on the third gen camaro. Just get a standard bellhousing and it should boltup in the straight up position. The trans should be standard GM pattern.
Yep!! Check to make sure the ****fer is also twisted back to the right so when in 1st/2nd gear the stick is slightly to the left like normal. If you were to turn the trans so it was straight up and down the shifter pattern would be way over on the right side of middle is what I'm saying. I think the reason for the twist is the extra clearance needed for the exhaust in the Firebird ch***i.
Thanks, I was getting a little worried there. It just didn't look right. I had to cut the floor anyway, so if been on is side is find I might just leave it that way. Again thanks. Mick
also, the shifter is way far back on a camaro t5, so you may want to double check that. If you want to compare it to a s10 version, feel free to swing by. I'm right off 71 & red bridge.
