    I’m glad you mentioned “T56”. Got me to thinking “Hmnn, I better look into this”.

    Edit: I had the impression they installed like an automatic for some reason.

    I've never had an issue with the surfaces that bolt to the block, and the trans surface being true. It's the center hole where they're almost always off and need to shift using offset pins. I've had one that was perfect, and it was an ancient two piece stamped steel Lakewood I bought when I put the 468 BBC in my '63 Falcon gasser. I honestly was shocked when I bolted it to the flywheel and began turning the engine over and it was within .002" of true center!

    I see, to stake in (so to speak) so the dowels won’t move. I****umed a tighter fit for them and the position wouldn’t change.

    I also drill & tap the block for a 1/4" setscrew.
