Yes Plug away.I have two cars without heat or a byp*** and they work fine.I have had several other cars the same way and they all worked fine.I am sure there will be a few know it alls that will say you can't but don't believe them.

Yes, I believe the only exception to that is later engines originally installed with vortec (L31) heads as those blocks did not have the internal byp***....I think.

There's a byp*** built into the pump. Can't recall which side of the pump and I'm not @ shop to look @ a pump, but there's an extra hole below the main intput hole on the head. One side of the pump has a corresponding hole and this lets water within the block circulate when thermostat is closed.
Only time I know of needing a byp*** hose is when you use a Zip's water pump riser as they have no byp*** provision.
As stated previously, I never ran a byp*** hose on a race car with no heater!

  6. P***. side. That's why the gaskets have the extra hole at the bottom.

  7. There wasn't any controversy, I said you needed one and some other fellas who don't think so said you don't.

I have had them overheat without one put one on and it quit overheating. No logical reason why, I don't really care why, if it works it works. If I am running sans a heater I just put a jumper hose on and then I don't worry about it, my stuff doesn't overheat.

One thing I did find out if you don't have the byp*** hose or a heater you need an air bleed hole in the thermo stat.
