sbc idle question

Sbc 350 edelbrock carb and intake.. Wont start unless on full choke . Touch throttle and it dies instantly. Any ideas ????

 

vacuum leak?

 

Nope. Just tried a can of carb cleaner all over engine. No difference in idle.

 

If it runs full choke only its one of two things.
Too much air like a vacuum leak. Chevys can leak under the manifold
Or not enough fuel.

Edelbrocks want two things from you - 4.5 psi fuel pressure and to be clean.

Forgot to add im running a manual fuel pump with an inline filter

 

WTF is a manual fuel pump , like they had on green acres ?

What's the fuel pressure at the carb inlet ?

That'd be the problem,
That's a two handed manual pump and you can't work it if one hand is holding the choke closed.

 

Hummm...

You think that's where they got the saying "crank it" from?

 

Does this carb have any choke pulloffs?

 

You have the PCV port on the back of the carb plugged?
