Anybody that can email me or post pics of a SBC in a 35 or 36 p*** car using stock 265 exhaust manifolds.Just want to see how to rout the exhaust pipes by the steering and Chev oil filter and on the other side by the starter. Ram horns won't work because of stock steering location. Thanks in advance.
Forget what they came on, but you'll have to look for the p*** side manifold the angles back, and use that on the driver's side so it angles towards the front. Then the pipe can curve down and back below the steering box.
I googled sbc exhaust manifolds + 36 Ford and found a picture linked to the hamb!! This is what I was thinking, don't know if it helps you.
I did it with a ramhorn. My exhaust guy is a bad *** though. Made it work like the one pictured above.
36-3window,Thanks for the input.I have a 37 steering box in the stock location and think that the ram horn will be almost directly above it.I won't be able to use side motor mounts.Jamco's might work or will have to make my own. 327-365, That angled one might work . Kinda want to see a pic of an installation with the 265 manifolds if someone has a pic.
The 67-72 2 wheel drive manifolds are angled. If you use a p***enger side manifold on the driver side it should angle forward above the steering box. you will need a good exhaust guy to bend the pipe to route around the box.
yes I took this picture to show guys how the p*** side 67-72 truck manifold can be used on the drivers side on any stock Ford from 35 to 48. They are easier to find than 265 manifolds. and I believe look better. My 36 Ford had 265 manifolds when I bought it and sold it. I don't have any pictures but it is one of the easiest exhaust systems to rout. I did do one using the 283 manifolds but it was a PITA. I did it just to see if I could. The real talent for an exhaust mechanic is the eye to see where the tubing must go. Once you develop the eye the rest is pretty easy.
Hi; If you search " 36 Ford panel truck driven after 45 years " on here , there is a pic of 265 manifolds with exhaust going around the steering box, Chris
While this is not a 265 manifold and a stock 36 Ford steering box it is good to note that they ran the exhaust so that when the oil filter is changed it would not drip oil all over the exhaust pipe to create a lot of smoke until it finally burns off....an important item to consider.
