how do you tell the difference between a pre 85 oil pan, and a post 85 pan...have a buddy who says he has a finned one he would send me if its the right yr...my motor is a 64! is there an easy way to tell?????
The '86 and later pans were different in the rear for the one peice seal adaptor. The 1985 and earlier pans could be for right or lefthand dipstick. Late 1970's they started putting the dipstick on the right side on some. Mostly 305s, but some 350s too. The one peice seal pans were wider in the rear. The stock pans used plates between the bolts and the pan, but that won't help you with this one....
That´s an old pre 86 pan for blocks with in-block driver´s side dipstick, that´ll fit your 64 block. I ´ve got the exact same pan on my 67 327. Should be a cal custom I think Chris
the pan in the picture should fit a 1964 engine. Dipstick is on the driver side. and be sure to put an old painted stock timing cover on it so it won't leak.
gotta love this place!!!!! thanks kids! i need one of everything in a large warehouse to keep up with this place!
haha...ive heard that a few times since puttin that on! damn i was wondering why my lil red light was so bright! it was set on invisible! weird!
