i have a 283 with rams horn manifolds and lookin' for the correct retainer/hold downs to run wires under exhaust manifolds. what do they look like? where can i get 'em? is it a corvette part?

  2. try ecklers ... tri-fives or late great ... it will be cheaper than Corvette probably.

you are going to also want the heatshields I imagine

anyone have pics of this set up. this is for a '64 block. i think heat shields might be to much as its for my model a with no hood sides. any thoughts on what years will fit.

Isnt there tapped 1/4" holes around by the dip stick of the block that hold little sheet metal tabs with notches? I think all factory sbc's have them, try the junk yard. And, i think theres one for 4 wires on the block by the bell housing

If you do not have to be "correct" you can just run the front 2 behind the motor mount and using seperators and some wire ties secure them.

this seems like it should be such a simple thing and its makin' me nuts. i'm gonna hit the junk yard again and see what i can find attached to those 1/4 inch holes or maybe make something like the "correct" set up. i'm running a hurst front mount so can't tuck wires behind stock mount. for the price of the ecklers stuff, its time to get creative.

Most of it is here. The little tabs with two slots fit under the front two plugs, the angled clip goes on the oil pan bolt to hold the wires, the 4 slot brackts fit at the back of the block and the back of the intake.

The 58-61 set also requires you use the draft tube that has a long slot in it for one of the 4 wire retainers.

    also the heat shields

Looks a little "street roddy". I don't think that's going to work with your ram's horn manifolds.

The links Squirrel posted are probably what you are looking for.
