I got a 350 out of a truck with a big flywheel and 12" clutch. The starter bolts to the block and has "straight" bolt holes. I'm bolting it to an adapter to an early Ford trans and the starter hole in the adapter is about 1/4" too high for the starter on the engine. Do I just take the die grinder and carve out the adapter? Has anyone else run into this? Thanks!
Yes just cut out what you dont need and bolt the starter to the motor. I did this when I put a small block to a 39 box in my 32 roadster in 1987 and drove the car everywhere until I sold it in 2000. I did it because the threads were broke out on the adapter I bought.
