GT40 heads are in the Explorer SUV's with 302 and 4x4 option. You may find them in a boneyard.

From what I can see, the early heads with dish pistons increases C/R from 8.0 to 8.3. With flat tops it goes to 9.9 a little high for today's gas.

It all depends on what dynamic c/r you get. Static c/r dont tell you
much the wilder the cam the lower the dynamic c/r gets
you need atleast that if you want the engine to
    be near a roadracing engine
Back in the dark ages when you couldent buy any
fsb heads i used 65 289 heads with 1.90/1.60 milodon
superflo valves, ported, screw in studs, polished cc ed chambers,
milled 1 mm, new guides.( Can you do it yoursef or have to farm it out?
farming out will cost you )TRW flat tops, cams around 260-265 degres
    at 050 500-510 lift shelby , performer rpm,weiand stealt,intakes
650-780 carb a good combination wery strong in midrange and like
to rpm shifted at 6500- 7500
but today i would buy heads
