a bright red would keep the theam of the windows and engine going

  4. Is the firewall chromed? My first thought was a gold, but not to vibrant like the olds engine color gold. My second thought was a creamy white. You could actually outline them in a red to pick up on the theme of the windows. My third thought was "I wonder what color the firewall is?".
    Wow. Is that chrome?

That color you're got is real warm, tonely speaking. Almost like a nice rich Cabernet. Ireally like it. I think subtlety is important on your scallops. What color is the engine block? How about the interior? How about a few more shots of that bad boy to really get the creative juices flowin?

You got whitewalls...Id go with a nice cream...I think white would be too dramatic....Depending if you want them to stick out, you could just darken the base color and clear...dont know...maybe just the cream

  7. Hot rod flatz vanilla shake outlined in hooker lipstick red

  8. I'll take a crack at this tomorrow but I think A gold leaf , Green/gold or lime green with brighter red stiping.

Yeah, the firewall is chrome. This used to be Hatch's car from here on the HAMB. No interior just yet. It has after market bomber seats. The car used to be hot rod black when Hatch had it. The windows really looked good with the black too. I'm thinking of puttin a Lexan roof in it. Should I do it in red? Or in smoke? Not sure now with the maroon how the window tint looks. I don't have too many good pics but I'll show what I got. Thanks for the replies so far. Some kewl choices.

The color is a Flatz burgundy satin pearl. Only took a couple quarts which was about $100! Not bad!

  10. That new color looks killer! I think a red top would be really cool too. Maybe just a white scallop with a red stripe around them would tie it all together. I think it looks great the way it is too though.

I'd be going with the white or silver/grey ideas.

    Cheers, Glen.

    I'm feelin' the gold.

  21. You might try laying out some scallops in 1/4" beige masking tape to mock it up first. I would go for 'Greek Style' filled striping and not do the scallops.
No matter what you decide, it is a cool looking A.

  23. I think it looks real nice as it is. The chrome firewall really stands out against the burgundy. I'd probably leave it like it is, but if you really want scallops, maybe a slightly creamy white with bright red pinstripe outlines or maybe gold pinstripe outlines. If you get too bright of a white, it makes your whitewalls look dirty. You might like Porsche "Biarritz Weiss", which is sort of a warm creamy white that I found looking through paint books at the auto paint store when I was looking for a good color to paint my firewall.

But I think the car looks great like it is.

Thx for the photoshop henry! Looks great!

I appreciate all the comments. Yes it is hot Rod Flatz.

Well, if I leave it alone i may go for some pinstriping. Not sure. I'll have to think about it for a while.

Personally I think it looks good without scallops. But if I should have put some scallops on it, I think I would have put some black scallops with white lines on the edges, or maybe silver flake to match it with the rest of the 60's style elements on the car :)

Please post the pics when you are done. I am doing scallops on my 31 Oldsmobile and am looking for additional ideas. Good luck with your decision.

The reason I was going to go with scallops was because I wasn't too sure about the color. My girl don't care for it, and she's pretty savvy with cars, so I started to doubt my decision for the color choice. I'm glad a lot of you guys seem to think it looks pretty sweet. I have to admit it looks real cool in person. I may just leave it alone.

How about this...bolder scallops...off white with lime green pinstripes, and lose the red windows...???
