I have been considering laying down some scallops on my '62 I think the flat with the flaked roof is rad but I want to know what some of you guys think. Maybe flames or something. Any ideas?
Don't get me wrong, I love flames and scallops on the right car but I think all that you need to finish the look is a little pinstriping. keep it clean and bad azz looking!
I agree. Scallops or flames would be too much... but some nice red and white pinstriping would tie everything together nicely.
I think some striping would look sick and if I was to lower the car I'd have to get new wheels and tires those things rub as is and that thing is far from low.
for the record, id keep as is too, but your question was which to add - scallops far over flames - maybe even just scallop outlines? i wouldnt lower it at all either - maybe the rear an inch - maybe - id change the rims though - steelies outback and some torque thrusts up front on a little skinnier tread - not gasser, but a lil more period look your paint scheme now is actually what ive been thinking for my truck
I think that it would balance out better with (dare I say it?) red (they would match the top) steelies, then I would find something cool to write on the upper rear 1/4ers, and block #'s on the hood denoting the cubic inches If you are set on scallops , or flames, I would go with scallops though. flames don't reallu work with a two tone car.
I vote neither. Car has a 60's race car feel to it, that you can accentuate with some Cragars or equivalent up front and some steelies in back. Car will have too many themes going with flames or scallops, especially scallops with Draglites.
Scallops, no. However... ...A new hood, cut springs and maybe some supremes with pinner whitewalls would suit that baby just fine
Yeah I'm going to drop the scallop/flame scheme. I'll keep it as is for now I really want Radirs in the front and steelies in the rear though.
Gold leaf is where its at for gassers. Rid yourself of the radials and it will be a perfect 60s gasser.
My intentions when I got this car was to stick a straight axle under the nose but then I relized its alot cheaper to build a kustom then a gasser (dont have a whole lotta dough in 8th grade) But lately I have been inspired by The Shaky Puddin to go down the original path.
Yeah! Piss people off. Now, THAT'S hot rodding at its finest. Maybe you could put some naughty words on it too. Your suggestion sure works, Dirtest Devil. Now, I'M pissed off.
A straight axle is the worst thing you could do. That car is from the Super Stock era. If you want a performance look, do it right. Think dealer sponsored race car. You can even letter it all up and then you could PISS PEOPLE OFF!!!
wait your telling us you're in 8th grade so around 13 years old. Incredible! keep it up and don't worry or concentrate on pissing people off stick with pleasing yourself, build it to please you and only you.
No I bought the car in 8th grade Im a senior now I just finished it over the summer. Also I was being sarcastic on my last post. But thank you for the enthusiasm.
If it were mine I'd put some 60's style wheels on it and enjoy the shit out of it. Scallops or flames would be too much on this car. Except for the wheels you've nailed the old Super Stock look.
Bull, Kustoms cost way more if done properly, and look much better, just an opinion, and everybody has one! Rags
yeah get some cragers or some torq thrusts in the front (smaller) and some steels in the rear. Go for that 60's gasser/drag look. Maybe some lettering or older logo's on the car.
What's with the mags in front, steel wheels in the back thing. My guess is most guys in the day would have had a full set of mags on the street, and a set of steel wheels with slicks for the track. Unless your planning on running slicks on the back, just get a FULL set of period appropriate mags, which ever kind you like, I also think it looks really good right now, if it were mine, I'd go for a set of tt or slots, just for the period look.
