Heads up everybody, more and more scammers are grabbing photos of rare and valuable parts here in the classifieds, and posting them “for sale” on Instagram. They even use the original ad details to make their posts seem more legit. I came across one today, they love to list phony ads showing 33-34 grills (I’m looking for one). In checking this guy out, I figured out the pic he was using was from a 2017 ad here on the HAMB. In looking further, I saw a recent ad he posted for a complete Buick brake setup- using MY old ad details and MY photos from several years ago! Be careful out there!! Dave
This car was sold here a few years ago. https://www.instagram.com/p/CuUlTW7ImwY/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
This Zephyr trans was sold here on the HAMB not too long ago https://www.instagram.com/p/CpY6S7fjotU/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
I think you may be confusing a guy who is flipping parts and cars. I checked and I actually follow that account as well as over 20 other well known hot rodders and custom shops, and it seems like most of the comments on his posts are people well-regarded in the community. Either we are all getting scammed and no one has raised a red-flag, or maybe your radar is a tad off. I will say, I could find no Google results when trying to find a Rod Willie Leblanc in Beaumont, TX https://www.instagram.com/willpick_junkz/
I did find the ad you reference from Indiana-based seller, and the pics are identical: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1939-lincoln-zephyr-convertible-coupe-project.1124965/ Maybe @corndog can provide some insight as to whether that car was sold to a guy in TX who is now using the same pics?
I shared this info with several of the scam-PSA pages in Instagram and they confirm he is a scammer. Has changed his name 13times recently to try and hide from the authorities. I encourage all here to go find: willpick_junkz and report to Instagram for scamming. Thanks @Adriatic Machine for sniffing him out, sorry I didn't believe you at first.
