problem is now the smart scammers will buy a check, then make 20 copies. when someone calls in the bank says its legit, then he hands ya a forgery, and promtly takes the other one back to the bank for a refund.

best to not take them at all anymore.

one good idea is to have them overnight ya the check, tell them you are in a hurry. it cost over 50 bucks to o/n from nigeria. in a few days when he contacts ya , tell him you never got it, but you really want to do the deal....they will promptly o/n another thinking they got a pigeon.
eventulay you get the pleasure of telling them to fuck off and thanks for spending a couple hundred with a u/s company.

  5. I've been known to give them a phony address to send the cashier's check off to. Or if I had a bum deal with someone, like they took my money and didn't send me the item I was supposed to get? I'll use their name and address to recieve the thing.

Record the next phone conversation you have with him.
Tell him you sold the truck for scrap (or dirt cheap if its really nice) because you was needin a fix real bad. Maybe he's also involved in other illegal activities besides scamming people and might try to capitalize on your "problem". I'm not sure if such a recorded conversation (even if worded perfectly) would help law enforcement, be admissible in court, etc. but at the least it would be funny :D
Be smart and let him hang himself, these people need to be put away indefinitely.

Why not just cash the check and put the cash in your pocket . Then tell him you are going to hold the cash for two months , then he can come and get what ever you are selling him . Don't give him your correct address . But do send the parts or what ever later .
