I have to share my story how I almost got scammed on facebook. I'm a member of 2 mid fifty ford car pages on facebook, and guys are always selling cars and parts. This fella posts that he has trim and other parts for sell. I message him and he said yes he had the part I needed. so throughout the day we chatted and I had a nice list of parts. He sent me pics of "the car" that he was parting out. Some things seemed strange to me throughout the day. Like he wouldn't give me a price, he would ask what I thought it was worth. fast forward to that evening I asked about the grille, he said it was in great condition and sent me a picture of the front of the car and it was rusty and smashed in. I said I wasn't interested it and he said "How about $250 shipped for everything including the grille"? I thought well, okay this guy just wants to get rid of stuff, and I had a nice list of parts that I wanted. So I said okay. He said that price was only good for that night, and he can send me an invoice. I asked if he took Paypal and he said his wife set up a payment page on facebook..He sends me an invoice for $250, it says "For 1955 ford parts". That's when I knew something was fishy. I went to his profile page. Nothing there but a profile picture and a picture of a truck. I saved his profile picture and did a google reverse image search. it came up a bunch of times as a stock Christmas picture.. I told him I could not pay for the items at this time, he then got really nasty and said I wasted his time and he had another buyer that day who could've bought it. Right then I get a message from an actual member of the page who informed me that he saw my post earlier and the guy selling the parts is a scammer, I also confirmed it with another member of the page who almost got scammed that same day... Sorry for the long post, But I just wanted you guys to be aware. It's sad that you don't know who to trust these days.
I was on 2-3 of the mid 50's Ford Facebook pages too, after about a month I dumped them. For some reason I never had a good vibe on any of them. YBlocksforever website is the only one I've stayed on. Thanks for the info...I'm glad you made it without loosing any $$$$.
Did you call him out on the page so no one else gets scammed? Most people would never even think to be as thorough as you were. Especially the image search.
