I have a Scat 4 1/8" stroker crank that is new but was delivered without the dowels on the rear flywheel flange that locate the flywheel. Does Scat sell these (checked their site, no email addy) or if not, where can I get a pair? They are NOT the same OD as the STD Ford crank/flywheel dowels. Other than machining up a set where can I get my hands on a pair? Thanx... Rat
not the same as sts frod? what is sts frod?do you mean the dowel holes are different diameter to a ford crank dowel hole? so are they a stepped dowel or something? surely they are made to fit a Ford flywheel..
Haha typing in the dark will do that to ya LS.... Yes it will require a stepped dowel to go into the back of the Scat crank and to correclty locate the Ford flywheel. I have a STDc rank with the dowels but cant remove the suckers without an oxy. Did I mention I LOVE building engines....? Rat
Really? seems an odd thing to do by Scat. do you have verniers and can you give me the dimensions? I have some decent tool steel rod, i could make you a pair tomorrow.
Gee thanx man !! Tell ya what - I'll mike up the ID of the hole and the OD of the original dowels and text em to ya tomoz..... Sweet? Rat
I love it, it took a web site in the USA to get two Aussys in Melb together to make up some crank dowls!! Good luck with the flattie Rat. Doc.
Just finished having a few dozen crank pins made for both the factory cranks (.438" x .4675") and the aftermarkets (.439" x .4675"). The Eagle shafts definitely use the .439" size for the correct press-fit, not certain about the Scat shafts. Would need an accurate hole size on their's (measured with a bore-guage) to determine which dowel size is required? Thanks, Gary in N.Y. P.S. Highly recommend using the dowel pins and NOT relying on the bolts only to keep things correct! Some maintain the pins aren't needed, we feel Ford put them there for a reason?
No I meant 4 1/8" guys ! Gosfast - I will be using them even if we have to knock up a set as Losquire mentioned. Good enough for ol Henry - good enough for me. It just makes sense to me to use em. Rat
