One of my future projects will be to build a '63 SD tempest clone. I found somewhere that the hood scoop was from a "compe***ors medium truck line and given a pontiac P/N" I've been looking all over, but haven't found it yet. here's the best pic I could find of it. If you find out what it's from I'd appreciate it.

I'm thinking F-600 Ford truck. You know those really big almost cab-over looking *******s.

I saw one on one of these trucks (about a '60 model..they carried over the earlier '56 F-100 body style for several years in the big trucks) in Cameron, TX a couple of years ago, and thought "huh, that kinda looks like the scoops they used on those early Super Stock drag cars."

It may not be the exact same scoop, but it's a lead anyway.

Everything I've read said they used Ford scoops - so many, in fact, that they gave them a GM part number.

Yep, those scoops are from big Ford trucks. Pontiac, Chevy etc. ***igned their own part numbers to them and put them on some their Super Stock and Factory Experimental stuff. A freind of mine scored an NOS one a while back and he insalled it on his g***er style '57 Ford. It's a *****in' piece.

Thanks everyone. At this point I'm just slowly collecting parts and information, but maybe It'll be at the 2005 HAMB Drags and the day of the drags. Here's the pic that got me hooked.
