Hello guys, Can anyone here identify these vintage SCCA road racing wheels. They are 1960's vintage... THANK YOU! Hyfire
they were commonly termed "minilites" as that was the trade name of the company that made the most popular styles of those wheels.
I'm voting for Minilites Just a guess...Neighbor put a very similar looking type on a Mini-Cooper back in the day.. Not too familiar with sporty car wheels, tho Stan
Real Minilites have curvier spokes, like a hooked finger. They normally have a flat center hub, too, without the raised rib that is shown in your picture. A lot of people copied the Minilite design, and I would guess that those are copies. In the '60s, Minilites were true racing wheels, were made of magnesium and were very expensive. The ones that are available now are aluminum and are streetable. Here's a new one from the Minilite US website:
SCCA is the Sports Car Club of America and is a sanctioning body. This style of wheel was often used on cars in various cl***es and series within that body but the wheels are not "SCCA" per se. With that said, these look quite a bit like Panasport wheels which were a later 70s era suedo-copy of minilites. - EM
