I'm building an early 3.5 Rover aluminum V8 and T5 for an MGB. The Rover is the same as the 215 Buick and similar to the 215 Olds I recently bought a 215 Olds for parts and was surprised to find the flywheel on it is a Schiefer aluminum one... It's drilled for a Long style clutch cover... Mine appears to have never have had a steel or bonze insert and looks like it has been run on just the aluminum surface which is somewhat grooved due to this. What is the story on these? Can I surface it and run it as is? Is there some sort of coating that was or should be applied (metal spray/flame spray)? Here's the motor it would go on mocked up with the T5... Here it is running (with an automatic flex plate)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49KZv2CIg5M -****-
