I have a '34 Ford pickup truck cab and I'm looking to put it on a chassis.

1-Are cars (any body style) and pickup truck frames the same?

    2-Are '33 & '34 frames the same?

3-How do I, i.d. the frame and year if there is a difference between years or models?

4-Is the vin# on these frames, and if so where are they located?

5-What can I expect to pay for a decent original bare frame?

    6-Pictures???

    Thanks, Dave "Shifter"

    1 - yes

    2 - yes

3 - same so you won't need to worry

4 - right in front of cowl on top left

5 - up to $1,000 for really nice

6 - look at repro places like Pete and Jakes to memorize the shape of the rails

  3. i think some of the holes are different between car and pickup , but shouldn't be any problem on a hot rod

Yeah, there are holes in the side of the frame for fender and running board mounts on a passenger car frame that are not there on a pickup frame.

If memory serves me correct there is a difference in how the rectangular radiator mounting pad is fastened btwn 33' & 34'

There are early 1933's with different mounting pads for engine than the general run of '33's. The first cars used forged engine mounts with a narrow span rather like 1932.
Those hole locations would not matter on most rods.
