I have a 462 in my '68 Lincoln. Why cant I find parts for it? What is the real difference 462/460? I -untill this car- was a GM guy. Any thoughts/facts/info needed. Thanks.....

HAMB'er Uncle Scooby is the guy to talk to about MEL engines (that's Mercury/Edsel/Linclon)...there's a MEL forum on the web..lotsa dedicated guys but this is a real SMALL niche in the whole car world...nothing wrong with that. The engine bears NO RESEMBLANCE to the 460...totally different. It really IS a good motor..really underated, IMHO. Good luck.

462 is a Lincoln engine... no relation to the Ford 460 (like the difference between a Chevy 350, Olds 350, and Buick 350)

I havent seen many speed parts for that engine, the speed companies have forgotten that one.

Just make it a "low and slow" sled and drive it.

They are a small niche, but there is some stuff out there. They are the same as Mercury 383, Lincoln 430 and Edsel 410. Look for lincoln 430 parts on ebay and you'll occasionally find some. They actually made quite a few speed parts back in the day for these, but I guess not many people bought them, cause they sure and floating around everywhere now.

Here's the link to the MEL forum

Ford FE valvetrain and oil pump interchanges except the cam, There's a post floating around here with some great info about using pontiac/BBC rods/pistons.
