Schroeder Steering box ?

    For the guys that have a sprint car cowl style steering box in your car Do you like it ? pros cons ? Thanx

    I like mine but if I did another would go with the gear reducer so it would be 16/1 instead of 8/1 would turn a little easier and slower. The only draw back is the cost with the reducer. Mounting takes a little thought.

    Schroeder doesn't show a power box. Don't like the complications of a power box although I looked at them. Flathead power makes it difficult although not impossible to mount a pump. Neatness counts. KISS!

    Don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but are there other steering boxes that can be adapted for sprint-car style cowl steering? I know one of the modified's on the cover of the latest "Street Rodder" has an adapted BMW box, and I'm thinkin' something like a `56 Chevy manual box with it's long shaft and pitman placement might be a candidate. Anybody made their own cowl steering? If Shroeder is the answer, where do you find 'em?

    I like my schroeder steering. It's an early one with 9:1. The only thing is that ya have to make sure that it's secure, or else it'll wants to move around.
