scoop issues

I recently acquired 2 cal custom 40-40 scoops with some fairly rough chrome and due to the price of chrome i would like to just strip the chrome off and polish them. What do you guys think of this and has anyone done it? My second concern is how to mount these without the original bases, anyone have any pictures or knowledge?

 

they're pot metal, polishing them will be a fruitless effort.

You could always paint or powdercoat them
