I'm new to this board but, i'm already here as much as i'm on the Buick board. Here's the story: a guy at work hears me talking about nailheads and says "I got a nailhead in my garage I want to sell" I said OK and i'm in his garage the next day looking at an Olds 324. I told him it was not a Buick and it looked like an Olds. I told him I still wanted it and he said $200. I almost fell over and told him its worth more than that. He said he only wanted what he paid for it and wanted to see someone put it to good use. Haven't looked inside yet but, so far I see an AFB off a '59 Chevy 348, JC Whitney valve covers, Hurst motor mounts, adjustable push rods, dual valve springs,'39 ? Ford ******,and a set of homemade headers. The center exhaust on each side wraps underneath the motor to tie in with the opposite side. It was pulled from a Model T pickup 15 years ago and replaced with a SBC I ***ume. After I got it home we checked it out and fired it up on the cart it sits on. Ran great. Now I need something to put it in. Brian
EXCELLENT!!!! I do believe this is same engine family as 371 <?> and 394, so a J-2 tri-power should fit and there are companys making transmission adapters for late model ****** installs also.
OK, so you allready have an Aussie, a Kiwi and a Swede who like it. Well i,ll go one more and say i love it.
no not the same family as 394 (and not the same as 371 from 1959-196X+ as the 371 from 1959+ is a smallbore 394 and not the same at all as early rockets..) ) (same family as 371 from 1957-1958 though) no 371 intakes do not fit straight on, get yourself an edelbrock or weiand or offy 3x2 intake instead... if im not misstaken the spacing between the heads isnt the same, im not totally sure so im just mubling but i belive you need to trim the intake to make it fit, if it was an 303-324 intake on an 371 i belive you need spacers, if you got an 6x2 intake though it will fit without mods...
