Another stupid question has been raised in my head....but just for curiosity sake, is there a supercharger for the SBC that has the looks of the SCoT blower? all those fins really look cool!
Can't say I've ever seen a SCoT blower on a SBC, but I've seen plenty of pruned GMC's, which look similar. Not as many fins, but the rounded bottom edge looks the same. Find a V-belt drive and you'd look pretty vintage.
Pruned GMC on a SBC? I thought all manifolds for OHV engines were made for unpruned cases. It would look cool though.
I was reading the history of the S.Co.T/Italmeccanica blowers in TRJ and it said they weren't available until 1950. That would be the GMC would predate those by two years when Navarro and and then Beatty used them in 1948. So technically the GMC would be even more vintage according to TRJ and those you know they made intakes to suit. I want a S.Co.T or Pepco for my '33 one day but god knows I just can't afford one unless I find one cheap. But a GMC, now that's a definite possibility and a ton of people know how to rebuild and service them which is nice to know.
Only chevy Italmeccanica /S.Co.T make a kit to whas the six cylinders engines they have in early 50s when they make them , but i am sure you can make a intake to put one on if you realy want.
These are close but are side outlet . Made by Wade . If you wanted to get creative you could alter the case and make an outlet on the bottom . As you can see the side outlet makes them good for straight motors . You often see them here for less than a few hundred dollars . I had to make the carb adapter plate and drive cover and drive but they look cool .
Camden comes close but I don't know if sold separately from Mazda installation kits. http://www.camdensuperchargers.com/index.php?pag=402
