It is a new motor. H&H flatheads has assembled some, I don't know if they are the same people manufacturing them. Just think a repop ardun headed flatty with a repop italmeca blower setup and a pair of repop Strombergs, nestled between a pair of repop deuce rails with a reopo deuce roadster body. A set of those repoped Halibrands, and maybe a new quicky to go with them, all of them coated to look like magnesium, a set of coker dirt track tires. Maaaan it just doesn't get anymore traditional than that. Ok sarcasm aside, the little motor is a masterpiece. I would love to have one to play with. On a side note no one oputs something like that out in plain view except to get your attention and I am sure that questions would be welcome, almost required.
You are rite it is in the shop area frequented by the clients of a nationally known NHRA past champ/ record holder's engine facility.
The guys that buy that stuff are friends with or are the bank president. It probably gets done on a line of credit and the bank doesn't ask any questions.
No such issues here.... No such "barriers" for these folks... (Not a reflection of my bank account status, I'm just a workin stiff!)
The banker would say, " you want to borrow thirty large to buy an obsolete car engine that cant be less than 59 years old and it was never even in production???" Are you NUTZ?
Trust me people with money very seldom use their own. I think it is some kind of a code. If it is in a shop and can be figured as operating overhead it is a pretty big deduction. As long as it is on display it is operating overhead. I may be wrong about these people in particular but that is the way things like that are normally done by savvy businessmen.
Ha...When I had my shop, the Franchise jerk thought my blown Chrysler hemi in the office was subject to floor tax! Difficult to deal with, those 'folks'...(did I spell that correctly?)
The Ol' Man had Ed Iskanderians salt motor on a stand for awhile. Somehow he managed to take off of his taxes as a display motor. And no I have no idea why it was there, I just remember it and him telling me when I was grown about using it as a tax deduction.
Shit dude you are so wrong it aint funny. I'm not "outing" my customer but this is pocket change for them. You need to get off the money thing that is not what this post is about..... Its about the "Ardun Re-pop" and what a sight it is to behold..... If you need a motor for your NHRA pro stocker or maybe you need a boneville motor (yea they have record holder motors there too) come by and talk to them about it and see the "doorstop" in person.
Someone ask what they cost then someone else wanted to know how to finance one. I did mention that my statement was not a direct reflection on them and just for your information I really don't need anyone to build a record holding motor for me.
I think it is great here are people build things like this.It is not easy to make this parts ,there are never sold many of them so i think it must be very entusiastics HotRodders to make them . Repro Ardun heads are very great and Aluminium block on market is fantastic . Big S.Co.T with Gmc inside parts is also a nice thing .This is new HotRod history and please let them comming,I am happy to see them on pictures ,Thanks
For all that wanted to know here is "the deal " .... I was just removing the heads from a Corvette motor for this customer (six figure $, numbers matching 1957 factory cold air box car) and while my customer was there I asked him about the Ferg/Ardun. His own words- "aw we had it put together about 8 or 9 yrs ago for a project... At the time undetermined, but you know really. It belongs in a 32 3 window coupe, ya know" And I think one day soon it may get there.....
Kennkat, thanks for posting the pictures and the details. I appreciate the fact that you demonstrated respect in the man's shop. Not asking questions until the time felt right, didn't post the name and address of the shop etc. Cool. You're my kind of hot rod trash. Oh, hell yes, I love that little beast. All the best, Dale Cleveland OH
