American Hot Rod Foundation December 3, 2023 · PHOTO OF THE DAY , , Jim Palm of the Lancers ran his Class B Roadster during the 1947 S.C.T.A. season. It was a little different than most of the cars in his class as the Merc flattie was sitting behind him. At the first meet on June 13, Mr Palm ran 123.62 mph for a second in class. At the July 6th meet, he ran 121.78 mph for a 4th in class. The August 10th meet was pushed to the 31st due to Mother Nature, and our boy ran 126.22 mph for a second in class. At the September 21 meet, Jim grabbed first place with a speed of 128.57 mph. At the last meet of the year on October 19th, it all fell apart as he only ran 115.83 mph for something like 18th fastest and finished the year in 7th place in the points standings. On a high point, his club finished as the top dog for the year.
