I personally know 3 people that are great guys and very talented hotrod builders that stopped posting on here years ago because of this exact reason. hell for that matter even some of the exact people that were commenting in the beginning. the constant critique is just ego...

Nice job, I'm no expert but I thought you would have heated the pieces before welding since they are so thick, to promote better weld penatration.

Obviously you need to be a 1800 buyer to build a decent machine. If they were on a F350 with a boat anchor diesel under the hood and approached carpark speed humps at full velocity I'd be cautious. If they are on a roadster or bucket or similar with a setback engine that's light on the frontend I'd say go for it.

Nice job! I see no problem running those. As long as the welds are solid i cant fault them.

These "how to build/make" posts are my favorite. Hell about 80% of my car is homemade/homebuilt parts.

Have nothing against buying parts but building on most things is the fun part!

I agree, it feels very traditional! Even if its not what guys wouldve done when f1 mounts were .50 its still in the same headspace

These are likely not mild steel due to obvious carbon content when cutting and grinding. I would have to say, stating that the welds are the potential weak point is silly and just stating the obvious to be negative. Loads of guys cut and weld their f1 mounts. I think most of us are aware that in any project, a poor weld is a weak point... i think you personally just have a tendency to be negative and make a lot of "gotcha" posts. Thats what i responded to and thats what everyone else was responding to. Its all good man. Im not mad atcha or anything. I just found it counterproductive in this particular tech thread. If we are being honest, i dont think you have EVER commented on one of my posts without acting this way. Its not just me, i see you do it to others as well. Again, not mad....but i do think its an at***ude shared by a handful here that drives away new members and old ones as well which only takes away from this great site. Wish you all the best and hope you can read between the lines of my comments here to see the constructive end of my criticisms

Hey @oliver westlund , I have removed my posts to try and clean this up for you so you can move on and continue with this thread. Maybe you might do the same. When you do I will pull this one down. Sorry, but I can't delete any of the other member's posts that disagree with you. You have a great day.:)

See man? Just like that....exactly like that... you dont need to be sour. I didnt make f1 shock mounts as an attack on you. You have zero call to be so negative and bitter. I dont care one bit if people agree or disagree. I didnt make f1 mounts and a tech thread for approval, yours or anyone elses. Deleting all of the posts about your comments makes everything messy and as you said, i cant delete ALL of everyone elses comments who disagree with you. Im sorry all of this is so personal to you for some reason. Wish you the best but im done clarifying or continuing down this path with you

Ill tell you what. Many of you hail Matt as one of the best in the buisiness. Why not watch this video and then we can talk about angles, welds, front end weight on an open fendered roadster etc.
