Working on getting this Edsel back on the road after 34 year. I popped the valve cover to lube the rockers before I rotate and noticed this screw in the oil line. Not much story on the car. I believe the engine was rebuilt some time late 80s. My only thinking is they was trying to build oil pressure or something. Thanks. I6 223 Ford engine. Engine runs great. Not sure what oil pressure it has. Idiot light.
Over 10 psi. There appears to be oil on the push rod cups and Ford products don’t need a lot of oil on the rocker arm system. The screw is actually a restriction. Surprisingly you can idle the engine without the cover on. Just place a few rags over intake/exhaust and ignition and watch for oil dropping of the edges of the rockers at the shaft.
Somebody put it there for a reason and it wasn’t to stop a leak. I would run the engine with the cover off and slowly take it out watching the oil. I will give you a great idea on oil flow to the rocker shaft.
