Kev, are there only 7 Scrounger members? I always assumed it was more. They seem to cover a lot of ground.
Steve 38.....Yes there are only 7 members. Quite a few cars though. 29EHV8...... I don't know the Canadian history of the dragster but it was not complete when it came to NZ. Don you have any pics of the Wilf Tucker car or is it on any websites? I would love to check it out.
Great post. My wife and I spent five weeks in NZ touring the south island on motorcycles last year. It also just happened to be the worlds largest Bugatti driviing rally while we were there. I was amazed at the resourcefulness of the Kiwis, because they're so isolated from the rest of the world they have to fabricate alot more parts.
chris' ultra slammed roadster on those black wires screams pure hellaciousness love that one great cars and guys, all truly top-notch.
I remember the first time I saw a pic of this car. I wasn't into hot rodding then, I must have only been 15 or so. I didn't understand the attraction of hot rodding. It seemed hot rodding was this confused hobby that consisted of building a car that looked old, but had all 'mod-cons', ie, air-con, elec windows, nice stereo, modern engine (usually small block Chevy), disc brakes, comfy seats etc. I didn't understand why you'd want to build an old car that was basically a new car in disguise. This T Bucket was so completely different to everything else around, and really stood out. It was the first traditional style rod I'd ever seen. It embraced everything I thought hot rodding should be. I loved it. Still do. Kev, any other Scrounger members on the HAMB?
Steve 38......Chris is a lurker and may register soon. No other members are Hambers. Here is a pic of Colin's 34 pu as it was in the 60's when Davie Thomas owned it............http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m79/kiwikevinp/scan0026-5.jpg
That sucks, I want to put pictures on not links. Heeelp! My little yellow mountain box thing stopped working and now I can't post pics. Anyone have any advice.PM me, thanks.
Hey Kev, Shame you won't be down this weekend for the Blowout. Mike and Dyan are either members or long time lurkers too.
I may be there next year for the Scroungers 10th anniversary. Here's a pic of my 34 coupe project. Still just a mock up............
May as well try to get all the club cars on. Here's my 58 Mercury wagon. Pic is from So Cal Car Culture website. Check it out, it'll keep you busy for hours.
I'm loving this! Have any of the Kiwi car mags done a story on you Kev? Would make a great read, Kiwi moved to California and lives the hot rodders dream!
The 34 looks just right Kev, the Scroungers Blow Out is the only show that we have as a must do each year, some of the others we make if we can. Nice idea doing the club profile. Look forward to meeting you if you make the Blowout next year, Cheers Mike.
