Bob...... I threw together a quick website that could be used as the official sdra website. Let me know if you want to use it and we can make changes/additions etc. http://sdra.sgtmcd.com/
How about posting the rules in there. That way people can just read instead of asking all the time. I ***ume you guys fall under the HA/GR rules? I know some teams are considered "outlaw" but I don't keep up with it that much.
I will need to get with Bob on the rules. The sdra rules are "mostly" the same as the ha/gr rules, but with a couple of differences. The basic difference is that auto's are allowed.
I know everbody is excited about the SDRA group and the races they have had recently, and i agree with all that. However the SDRA and the HA/GR cars are NOT one and the same. The HA/GR cars are built to a rule sheet that says "no modern holleys and NO automatics". Your recent web site shows all cars as members of the SDRA. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE! All of these cars are not members of the SDRA. Ryan has said that HA/GR cars will compete as hambsters and Automatic sdra cars will compete as a different dragster cl*** at Mo-Kan. The current SDRA cars at Goodguys this year had removed all HAMB decals etc. I feel that to promote a SDRA car on the HA/GR web site , where many of us have followed every rule to build a car just plain ****S!! Being from Indy i have witnessed the splits over the years in racing where one of more people just started a new cl*** to suit themselfs and it has decreased the builds NOT increased them. WHY IN THE HELL CANT WE ALL RACE UNDER THE RULES AND GUIDELINES WE WERE GIVIN. THATS WHAT I DID AND OTHER AS WELL!
Bubba, he's got me listed down there as well. My car is an HA/GR car, built that way and it is going to stay that way. I have no problem with them promoting their cars on this website, but that is Ryan's call. I will never have the chance to run against these guys because of my location. If I were closer, I would jump at the chance to run them. I just hope that we can all get over the two "sanctions", go out and run these cars and have fun. That is what it is all about. Robert
My car is an ha/gr car. However, because these races are available, and I fall into their rules, I will race at sdra events. While I don't agree with the reasons behind creating the sdra, I am happy that someone is creating races. As for the teams listed..... Bob Hindman asked for a list of teams in a thread earlier. I just copied and pasted that onto the website. I will remove anyone that doesn't want to be ***ociated with the sdra. As for 'promoting' sdra cars on this site..... did you happen to think that the reason I created the sdra site was to give it a place of its own? I, too, was extremely frustrated with the split of ha/gr and sdra cars. In the end, I decided that rather than fight them I would join them and have more places/times to race my car. As an aside...... at the last sdra event a true ha/gr car won the race.
Bubba really sums it up in his "WHY IN THE HELL CANT WE ALL RACE UNDER THE RULES AND GUIDELINES WE WERE GIVIN. THATS WHAT I DID AND OTHER AS WELL!" statement. If a cl*** has rules, build to the rules, otherwise there is no purpose to it.
Boy, you guys sounds like CART and IRL... I'm not liking the drama this whole SDRA thing is bringing to my side of this deal. I'm afraid it is scaring off the folks that want to build a traditional HA/GR car. As mentioned earlier, the HAMB and HA/GR is not ***ociated in anyway with the SDRA. The HA/GR runs old style carbs and our drivers shift their own gears.
