What does anyone know about UPG 12V 7.2AH Replacement Battery for TRIPLITE SM750UNAFTA. It's a sealed lead acid AGM battery that I want use for operating a 12 volt radio in 6 volt system. It is small and will fit in the glove box.

There should be plenty of cheap step up (boost) voltage converters on ebay available from china, just find one able to supply as much current as the radio needs. With todays cheap electronics, that solution will probably end up cheaper thn buying a battery, and without all the h***le of charging it every time you're home.

What kind of radio? The inverters and such, especially the el-cheapo kind, put out enough unshielded RF hash to render lots of things completely unusable.

  8. If it's those alarm type standby batteries they will work fine, as long as you remember the louder you play the amplifier, the sooner you will have to recharge it. You could run a line socket from the terminals and use a plug-pack type charger straight to the battery, that way you can leave it in the glovebox while it is recharging.

For $18 buy the damn thing and run it. You can then go to what was suggested by others after you determine if you liked it or not

I use something similar on my 45 mag fired Harley to run the brake light. Its out of a fence charger battery pack . When it is weak it gets charged. I'm to lazy to wire it up to the generator .
