The Nash is somewhat unique in that it has no hood side vents. This pushes all the heat under the car. It seems like an excessive amount of heat pushes up through the floor shift hole. I do have a boot that is not totally secured yet, but I can't see it stopping all of the current air flow. I've thought of using something like water pipe insulation although not quite sure how I would secure it. What do you guys do?
Chevy trucks in the 50s and 60s equipped with the floor shift 4 speed trans had a big chunk of foam, with a hole in the middle, under the floor, above the transmission. Sealed the top cover to the bottom of the floor. Something like that should work.
A lot of the newer cars have a double boot arrangement. Think of 2 comdoms, what gets past the first will get caught in the second.

I'm sure you can, too. Please let us know where you find some suitable foam, my guess is that would be the tricky part.
if you have a bone yard around and can still find an s 10 pickup or small blazer with the manual trans in it, they used a heavy foam insulator on top of trans around shifter.
Really........for $3.95 and a couple bucks shipping? I am all for 'doing it yourself', but there are times when the correct piece is readily available for a song..........and one's time is better spent on doing something not so easy or cheap to come by.
