Hey all. First post here so be prepared for some rookie questions. New here and new to vintage fords. I just acquired my grandfathers 57 fairlane. I had a Y black with 3spd manual. Appears to be a ford trans. It makes all kind of noise on the throttle and there’s metal in the gear oil. Car was originally equipped with O/D but obviously is not now. I did a little bit of reading and have determined that there may be different variations of the t85 that may or may not work for me. would you guys be kind enough to educate me on what trans I need or at least how to tell what trans I need. There’s a couple on the Bay but I hate to buy the wrong one.
