So my buddy found me this rad car and I’ve been trying to figure out if it has any history or not. The owner said that the original builder was from Arizona, and was a sprint car racer. He built the car in the early 60s and then moved to LA with the car. From there on the story stopped. I have no name to go off and have been left wondering if this is all even true. Anyone seen this car?
I don't know anything about it, but it is a cool T! If you haven't yet, try asking on this thread: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-about-some-love-for-the-t-bucket.1229552/
I enlarged the pics for you, always select "full image" when posting pics... where is the steering wheel? I don't see one
Thank you! These pics were after I de80s it. My buddy Cudahy Joe loaned me those cragars cause it had the giant wheels and tires on the back. The steering wheel was promptly taking out where Joe lengthened the shaft for me so I could at least fit in the car.
Saw this over on the Love thread and now saw this one. Very nice T! Sorry I don't have any recollection of it. The differences I spot that might ID it are the spring over rather than spring behind, the steering, the header bends, the rear locators, the angled channel which is deeper in front (?), the angled single part windshield posts, and what looks like a drop section under the body. Details that might help would be focusing on that underside, the dash area and the frame under the turtle deck.
Here are some more photos. Yep yep, has a 394 Olds with an early olds rear end. Took out the axles the other day and they are the large spline. Also, definitely planning on running front brakes. I’m in the process of redoing somethings.
I have some first hand experience with this car after Mr PG and I picked it up… I have to tell you this guys. It’s a very well built car. I feel like if the history is we were told is accurate, I need to give a thumbs up to the man that built this car. Short of not having front brakes, the little bit I drove it, I’m very impressed!
60s build time looks right. If you can decipher the "paint by" you might check in AZ for the shop - It's probably long gone but would be neat info for the story. Also most pin strippers signed their work - look for that hidden somewhere in the design. SoCal was the hot rod mecca. Every club of which there were nearly 500 held shows some monthly and some once a year anywhere from high school football fields to parks. They all got together on a regular basis. Check the LA Roadsters they had lots of shows and a big membership. http://www.laroadsters.com/ SoCal clubs - https://carclubplaques.pairsite.com/States/CA-South.htm
