Bought this from ebay. It's complete except for the lens. With that being said the needle is slightly bent and blows around with the slightest bit of air movement. It looks to be close to zero at rest, but after using it for a simple volt check, it looks to be reading at least 1.5-2v over what it should. Is there any hope for this? It has some great features. I'd really like be able to utilize this on a few of my vehicles when needed.
There should be a small(real small) adjustment screw to move the needle position vs a given reading - for calibration. I'd straighten out the needle carefully, but if you don't want to do that, find a way to check calibration on at least one setting, verify over a couple. Same movement moves the needle for all the settings. Once you get it in calibration, put a permanent note somewhere on the box w/the date & it's calibration, so's you'll not wonder again at the bowed needle-accuracy. Put a lens on it. Thin glass plate, or even hard celluloid plastic will work fine. Nice little unit. Marcus...
I have the exact same analyzer. I still use it as all 3 of my old cars run points. I mostly use it for the dwell meter and tach.
Thanks for the suggestion guys. I'll try what you suggested and report back. Not sure what I'll use for a lens but I'm sure I'll find aomething.
