Anyone have pictures or details on how they used seat belt latch's for tailgate latchs. Im looking for how they mounted the female receiver for ideas. Mainly to keep myself out of a redo.
That's what I'm looking for. How did you attach the receiver to the bed? Dis***emble and screws or welded?
I am also thinking about doing this in my truck. My question is do you have to push both latches at the same time to open the tailgate or can you do one side and then the other? My arms aren't that long, maybe I need a smaller truck?
I'm 64"" so the width isn't a problem. When you push in just pull a little on the gate and do the other side or in my ease both at once. These latchs carry a part number TRW RCF-67. There very common and cheap, about 5.00 in salvage yard.
I did this on our 57 Chevy stepside back in 2001. I didn't pioneer the idea by any stretch. I saw it done on another truck. It is a slick way to latch the tailgate that has held up well for us.
