I know, what do you need them for, but I have a buddy on a military base who needs 'em.. No mercy for the grandfather rules of "didn't come with 'em" Fellow has a '54 Ford. Now with the heigth of the seat in this, could possibly truck belts from 60's or so (which I have more #'s of in yards 'round here) work or will they be too short?? First desire is to have a ford emblem on the clasp/latch. Aftermarket is least desireable but will settle for. Thanks in advance.

I would think the trucks would work ok. The aftermarket ones in my roadster are long enough to fit a wide range of people. As for: [ QUOTE ] I know, what do you need them for [/ QUOTE ] Interesting comment. I've had em in every car I've owned and installed the first set in my 50 Ford sedan in 1956. Didn't always wear em, but did most times. Required by the dragstrips as well. When I worked at a power station situated on a bad curve we had three people killed on that curve in a short period of time. None were wearing seat-belts. Two Deputy Sheriffs who should have known better, single car accidents, one driving a VW and a the other driving a Porsche. Both of them hit a tree. One head-on took the lives of two occupants in a 63 or so Ford two door. One went out the passenger window and one went out the back window in a 3/4 angle head-on when the car spun violently. Both of those guys died. The seat-belt wearing family they hit head-on survived with minor injuries. One of the deputies may not have made it, but the other one would have. The two guys in the 63 Ford would have made it through with minor to moderate injuries, the car was not that badly damaged. My younger daughter and her girl friend had her Nissan hit in an intersection by a drunk driver. The Nissan spun around about 1 1/2 times and one door opened. They were both wearing belts and were only a little achy when it was all over with. Wear your seat belt. I don't want to read about you in the HAMB and find you died in a survivable accident. Not when a couple of seconds buckling up will do the job....
I will have the universal fit chrome aircraft style buckle type in all my cars before they are on the road. They are more expensive than the pushbuttons, but look waaaay nicer in my opinion. I don't remember where I got the set I have in my Fairlane. Spend a little time on the web to find the cheapest. http://www.andoauto.com/replacement.htm http://www.cmwauto.com/MainMenu/InteriorMenu/Seatbelts/seatbelts.htm http://kanter.com/seatbelt.html
C9, I agree with you 110%. I spent a few years driving a wrecker on the night shift years ago. This was when seatbelts were just coming into use. I recall easily 6-8 people who would be with us today if they had been wearing the belts. There is a mountain of evidence showing that they save lives and minimize injuries. I'm sure you may have heard the excuse "I don't want to get trapped in a burning car and have the seatbelt jam and I can't get out". That lame reason was passed around here for quite a while when the talk of mandatory usage of belts was being explored. Frank

But t6he only three-point retractable I have found have the dorky plastic pushbottons that look more at home in a hyundai.
This is the guy that sells at Socal swap meets, like Pomona tomarrow. Looks like he's got what your looking for... http://store.yahoo.net/wescoperformance/seatbelts.html
After I read comments I realize in my first line what kind of an ass it made me look. After cell phone yackers, kids jumping around in the front/back seat are my next irritants while doing my daily driving. I apologize for offending, and commend those who called me to task.. thanks for the info, I will pass sources to my friend.. What I did not include in first post was this guy just brought over a 54 Ford with him to an Air Base in Japan. I want to help this guy with parts needs any way I can... It is doubtfull that this car will see even 45 mph in the next couple of years.. I told him an electric fan is an absolute MUST.. Belts are to allow him to even get car registered on the base.
