    Hi

Anyone have a quick how-to or whats needed to do a nice blanket style seat cover for a Model A. All I have is a set of bare springs in the roadster.

    Thanks for any help.

And once you buy the blanket you have to give it a name. My blanket's called Blankey Lawless. I named it as such because it's comforting yet disrespectful of real upholstery all at once. Actual upholstery is for sissies.

I'll let you in on a little tip, because you live in Springfield and I feel bad enough for you because of that. [IMG] Do an intro, check on the main page for a GOOD intro, who you are and what you do in terms of hot rods, what grabs you etc. Maybe some pictures of that Model A. Folks will answer you when they know who you are.

    I named my blanket "Linus."

first you want to tie some pre-tension into the springs so they don't bounce you around in the cab too much.
Then cover the springs with a tough canvas or other cloth that will need to stand up to the wires rubbing on it fastened down so it wont move around or bag down between the springs. Then the horsehair and cotton batting, or foam rubber pad thena muslin cover to stabilize that filling, the blanket.
Hog ring pliers and PIG size rings hold it all together.
If you have visible fastening point or seams where you can stitch them down with caret thread, or upholstery thread with a curved sail makers needle.

I picked up a few FINE seat covers on the road and on cruise nights...

(...and a few that looked kinda scary after they got in...hard to be sure with my eyes at 60mph...and I'd feel rude peeling out after they've opened the door!)

Some days a diamond, some days a stone. Take what you can get! [IMG]

Tomcats30, make Dr.J's acquaintance, goodwill, peacenik ambassador to the HAMB.
Does anybody remember that awesome TV game show, Blankety Blank?
Damn good show it was, I think the host's name was Dirk Bainbridge, he had a handlebar moustache. He was far more debonair than that Pat Jajak****hole.
