  2. FREE SEAT!
I used a S10 bench seat in our '32 roadster. The fit is perfect - and the seat was free! Chopped about 5" out of the middle to narrow the seat and the back. Also narrowed the original foam with an electric knife. Added a little extra foam as lumbar support and had the thing recovered. Chopped about an inch out of the stock mount to get it a little lower. The fit is good and it slides front to back. I'd do it again in the next project....

I don't know if anyone has used the back seat from a jeep CJ or if it would even be the right fit. I mention this because I have a black back seat from about a 2005 Jeep Wrangler that was new and is currently collecting dust. Mounting brackets would have to be made. The height from the floor is 25". The depth from farthest part of back to front is 27" and the length is 41". If someone could use it and tell me how to ship it, I would ship it just for shipping charges. I have seen them on ebay going for pretty good money. The back does fold down.

Why not take your high back buckets and rework the top of the frames into the low profile that you want? Then you're not stuck with whatever fits width-wise at the height you want.
For a bench seat that folds, the back seat in my full size bronco is pretty narrow...

  6. Look at the infamous 90's Dodge Caravan 3 rd row seat. They fit like Henry made them in a Model A and in my 26. Ask around usual price is about $100, I actually got mine a new take out for $15, beautiful grey cloth, low back and folds down too.

I've actually got a couple Caravan seats listed in the cl***ifieds cheap-good to hear that they fit like i thought they would...I think one of the problems is the shipping might be a killer!

  8. hoof, good deal, I found it interesting too as to how well made they were structurally. You think Mopar mini-van and cheap, not in this case. The frames are very strong and well made. I had to trim a piece of the plastic that covers the release to fold down mechanism. The seat folds foward like it was made to by Ford. Maybe 3/4" by 1 1/2" of plastic was cut , thats all. Real easy to mount also, the way the frame is made with the mounting holes in front and back. All around a great deal. TR

I put 90 ish dodge neon seats in a 33 vicky. popped the head rests off and recovered them. 100$ from the bone yard. also try looking into **** seats have used them also. a little less expensive.

  10. Guy's and gal's Ive always wondered if anyone has taken a Kirky brand stock car seat and cut it down. Cut the top edge to make it a low back, and cut down the sides like a true bomber. They are like 1/3 of the price of so-called Bomber seats, and with a little work one could look practically the same. If you are TIG capable, you could weld a nice little edge bead, and be styling. Some aluminum rivets strategically placed, and you will have a incredible pair of seats. You will have to tilt them back on the install, as race seats tend to have you very verticle. Dang, giving away all of my secrets. Remember, you heard it here first, TR
