Well I thought this would be a basic job but it's turning out not to be. It's a 1947 Pontiac streamliner. I'm having issues trying to remove the bench to get to the floorboards. I see where the bolts are held in place from the top. But the lower skirt that surrounds the seat seems impossible to remove. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to remove these benches?

not sure on this exact car and i may be asking the obvious.
Generally there is enough access with the seat at the full front or rear for the opposite bolts. normally all the trim would have been on when installing the seat at the at the factory. Hope someone has the model specific reply

Been a while since I removed the front seat from my 46 Olds, very similar GM product. Remove the lower front seat cushion, it should come out. There are 2 x bolts at front and 2 x bolts at rear on both sides on slider tracks. I think I had to move seat all the way forward and then all the way to the rear to remove the seat frame bolts from the slider tracks. It was only then that the seat frame could be removed after slide handle was removed. I see slide adjuster handle has already been removed and that you have Pontiac running board rubbers with Chevy sill plates.

Looks very similar to a caddy. On a caddy that trim piece on the bottom comes off exposing all the bolts. I think there is a screw front and rear.

  6. It also looks similar to the seat in our wagon,,there are screws that hold the lower surround in place, get a flashlight and crawl in and look for screws.
