Sorry if I started a new thread unnecessarily, searched the forums and didn't really find what I was looking for. I have a '60 Ford pickup that I would like to make as safe as possible for my family of four to ride in. That means shoulder belts for the kids but I am not sure the best way to go about putting them in. Know the mechanics of drill hole, reinforce, blah, blah, know where to find seatbelts, but trying to figure out how to place them. Hubby and I can sit together and put kids on outside towards passenger door or we can take outsides and they can sit middle (seems safer to me but unsure where to mount the top of the belt then) . . . I know four is a squeeze in a p/u but my wagon won't be running anytime soon and need a way to get everyone to Santa Maria in one vehicle (not paying gas for two). Already did the lap belts in a past vehicle which the kids' car seats quickly outgrew and had to upgrade to shoulder belts shortly after anyway so lap aren't an option in my mind. Any suggestions? Anybody figure something out that worked well for them? Thanks, trish PS- kids are 6 and 7 so small, I am little so we can fit . . .just gonna be a looooong trip, LOL!
Check the seat height on your truck and find a later model that is close. Measure the uppet attachment point for the 3 point and that will have you pretty close to comfortable.
