I would like to ask some advice on the following. I have located and have secured a deal for a second Rod in a Barn. Appears to be a 1937 Ford Body, doors and trunk sealed shut. Has an interesting set up for the carbs on top of a Flathead V8. I would appreciate some info on the carb setup on this one. The car is not in as good a shape as my 29 Barn find, although, still a great find. Missing the grill and radiator, not sure of the frame this one is sitting on.... Advice and info is appreciated. Those are the "teapot " carbs from late 40's early 50's ford , same with the steering whel , I think?!
Ill try to post the pics on here, so its easier to see... Looks really interresting, nice find, again...
I was thinking 35 until I looked at the rear and the lack of reinforcement body stamping on side of the car. I just kept going back to 37 as the year after looking at the rear. If it is a 34 what is the frame this one is sitting on a 34 as well. Attached are a few more photos. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s109/mmmaxwe/1937FordDisc-7.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s109/mmmaxwe/1937FordDisc-6.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s109/mmmaxwe/1937FordDisc-5.jpg
Wow, cool discovery. I look forward to seeing what that looks like when it's out in the open. Looks pretty low judging by the pipes. A pretty unique car with the side cutouts and V windshield. Both not too common on 33/34's. Hope to see more pics when you dig it out. What kind of building is it in and how did you find out about it?
I`ll post these here too... Its easy to get the pics to show here if you want, just click on the button with the montain in the reply window and paste the pics adress in there, just a tip!
It is in a lean-to shed next to a barn. I found this one by chasing what seemed to be a small peice of insignificant info about old car parts. All of my good finds, cars and Jeeps, have come from stopping in the small towns, talking with the oldest people in the oldest business I can find. They know everything about what has been going on in the towns over the years, who has what cars, jeeps etc... It takes time to get the info you need. Sometimes hours of talking and hanging out. The rewards are there if you take your time. You also make some pretty good friends in the process. The old fella's are a wealth of information and love to share if someone is there to listen. Just like we will all be when we get old.
It's on a 35-40 style chassis whatever it is. This a "classic" Special with the Speedboat style windshield, cut down Darrin-style door openings. The carbs on the flattie are 4-bolt Merc backdrafts 49-53. If it's savable, save it! There aren't many of these left and there were lots and lots of them built during the "Golden Years" of the Specials in the late 40s-50s.
The steering wheel is a rare 49-51 mercury Accessory wheel. They are very hard to find, and IMO, one of the coolect looking wheels around. That one can be restored.
Roadstar thats not patina it's neglect and poor storage. Patina comes through use. It is a cool find and if restored back to how it was it would be a good example of how it was done.
That rust is wild......It looks like it's been under water....like it has growth on it..must have had a lot of water dripping on it for some time. very cool find !!
WOW, a 34 Ford Roadster Special! This thing should be restored to its former glory carefully and lovingly and enjoyed to the maximum! I think I'd put a slightly narrowed 37 Ford Pickup grille up front. Look around the shed, it may be hnaging on the wall somewhere!
Check the old salt flats pic and i think you will see this car there some place, check window posts there was only guy that could do them like them,it is deff.a old salt flat car,the green glass was to cut down on sun glare witch did not work that well.I will bet you find more parts there save them all.very good find. What ever you paid you got a hellva deal. alley
Yeah,I would say salt flats too, you get that corrosion after one visit and i'd say that rod may have seen push car duty. I see Jeep stuff there too..
leave it like this. It´s a piece of art.It would be really kool to display that car at the next GNRS !! Amazing find by the way !!
The more I look at and read about this, the more I think it could be an important find. You need to find its history!!! It just might be far more than an interesting parts source...
