Aw, well, see, a new year is about to begin, so you can screw this one up and start the year off shooting yourself in the foot. That way, you will still only be only be shooting your foot once a year, until the next time. Around here, full sized cars are going for $300 to $350 as s****, is there a couple hundred worth of parts on this car? I always add the value of the parts to determine a cars value, then add the s**** price of whats left. If I can get within $100 of the cost of the car, that makes it worth while. I figure there is $100 worth of odds & ends that are sitting at my place waiting, should a use for them arise. Gene
Buy the ******* car will ya.... Do a hobble for the 5skins..... Hell i may even know for a hobble or 2 around... then you got the parts car.... there are hobbles everywhere... Oh, can i get in line to **** on ya as well.... this seems fun
3500 x .135 = $472 US, $500 minus $472 = $28.00. s**** price of the car is 13.5 cents per pound, weighs what, 3500 ish, equals $472. I think a lot of guys should apply this math to their recent auto purchasing endeavors. Any car $400 or cheaper today is actually free in the sense that if you toss it on a trailer and s**** it when all the good is gone it's worth 13.5 cents a pound. With that mentality this whole adventure just says opportunity. You are not so much biting the bullet as coming to a realisation.
fitzee??????? WTF? The guys have repeated everything I said...about the 1st parts car! Hahaha Don't p*** up on this one fitz. You'll be kicking yourself if you do. The money only hurts for a couple of weeks. You'll save 10 times over with the better parts saving repair time and the additional parts you don't even have now saving fabrication/search time. IF this was a car you wanted to add to your PROJECT car collection you'd have it home already. This is one you can actually make use of now! Dump the off topic and bottom of the list projects you have and concentrate on this one. The Flatliner is a local first. NOBODY is about to build a car locally thats as radically customized as the Flatliner. Nobody. Dump the dream junk you have on the backburner and focus on what you NEED for this one. Follow the advice YOU always give to ME. On your urging I sold off two items that were spinning my head around and I feel great for doing it! My focus SHOULD be the Deuce I admit, but at least I'm building something I'll be cruising in THIS summer! That wouldn't be possible with the Deuce...and I NEED a fix! This spring two, maybe 3 more OT vehicles that are robbing my time and focus will be going. I'll drive the 63 Dodge and work on the Deuce. BTW...we might be taking a roadtrip to Whiteway soon. Parts car for the Dodge!
Well, you said they are hard to find in your area. You would save money in the long run to get it now and get it local.I know here in the USA that money is getting less valuable so that other car for 300 could be worth 500 now if it had survived. That isn't too far from a s**** price.Ya just can't find ole cars for 500 bucks anymore, buy it.You can always sell it later.
Focus!!! That will never happen. I been thinking about this as well and today I plan on putting some stuff on line. Need to get rid of everything. Start 2011 off with less parts. Time to get busy taking pictures. Time to clean house
wish i could help you out, and get that trans off you,, but maybe feburary at the earliest, but im sure the car would be gone rick
Somebody up there is trying to make you pay for letting the $300 car get crushed. Now you don't have $500 for this one. Scrounge and sell off some of your uneeded/hoarded parts to raise the $$$ if you ever want to finish your project. if you p*** on this and IF you find another, it may be more market priced at $1500+. And everyone saying to strip this, then s****/crush it!? I looks like it's a "builder".
2 funny......and ********. Geesh even Bill chimed in to get in line... Buy the car Fitz..... the time saved will be a huge ***et.
Hey! I didn't "chime in" or get "in line" for anything! Fitzee wanted some advice and I gave my thoughts on it like he asked for. The same advice he gave me not too long ago actually...and it worked! I'm not giving him a hard time...
Someday soon some guy may show up with a barge and a crusher and buy all those $100 cars from you guys and pocket $372 a car, metal is most likely going to hit .20 cents a pound, they need a mix of 20 25 % s**** volume to get the smolters fired before they can drop in new ore. Just trying to help you not let another slip away.
I`ll be picking up this car. Need to wait till all this new year stuff is over and I need to clear out some of my projects and parts. I will fill you in on the car when I get it home. This one is not getting away. Thanks for all the input. I enjoyed ever one of them. except Leon`s of co****.lol
Good. I think its a good move...and you might sell off the odd thing from it too. Hey! Just saw your new ads on the local Cl***ified site. Seeing your in the mood to get things all cleared out, you should sell ME those skinny slots in your ba*****t...ol' buddy, ol' pal!!!
I'm not ready to upgrade from my 216 yet, but this came up for sale yesterday for $150 I had no place to put it. No way to even get it out of my truck. So, of course, I bought it. Why? This stuff is over 50 years old- YOU BUY IT WHEN YOU FIND IT. 300 was pretty darned fair for that first car. You missed out on the parts it could have provided. Don't miss out on the lesson that it still offers you.
Any g***er parts are staying!! old buddy ol pal. Can`t get rid of all my stuff!! besides If I sell them to you they will never be used!! Like a 32 I know of!!
no one ever said this hobby was cheap... running- drivable cars =$ storing and working on a bunch o non running turds=$ decide what to do or do not play... the gangs "opinion" here is just fuel many factors decide final outcome $$$$$ maybe while ya wait go buy beer or fast food 5-6 times and two tanks of gas.. buying license and current tabs on junkers can cost way more than the price of the non running car heck its 2010 errr 2011
Hahahahahaha...**** ya gotta put up with...Hahahahaha I'd be started on that IF only I had a set of skinny slots. Not buying it are ya? LOL
Bill and I aint fight'n....nooooooooooo And when i get pissed i just buy something that i'll use at a later date.... always makes me feel warm inside It's as simple as that. I see the liquidation of the stash...lots of stuff there... Skinny slots.....what bolt pattern....
If you mean what I'm looking for...ANY bolt pattern! I can make it work. Besides...I'm never gonna use them anyway...ask fitzee!!! LOL
Didn't even know they made 14"ers...but I want 15" ones anyway. I know of another set besides fitzees but I haven't seriously approached the guy on buying them. Might be the same set your talking about! LOL If you run into him just ask if and how much and let me know. To be honest I was just figuring that if fitz wanted to get some bucks quick i'd buy his ASAP. I'm not in a big rush to get a set right away...but if the chance came along...I'd bite. Thanks...
As I said in another thread, just had a guy telling me that he wanted $300 for a steering wheel that was falling apart. That didn't include shipping! Prices are all relative, but other than a few stories here and there, people are not giving stuff away. If you need it, buy it. Or you could wait another 10 yrs to save $100. Do the math...
ask yourself; what's easier, making $500 or all the parts that car contains. i believe in parts cars so much i'm an organ donor!
