Lost any replies that may have been given so,.... here's the question again. Got a pair of Naiheads, one is a 55' 264, running, with a Dynaslush attached. Second is a 55' 322, 4 barrel, haven't tried to start, may be froze up. Got a nibble or two,..not trying to make a killing, but don't want to give em' away. What do yall' think ? Thanks for the help ! Pappy (Also got a stick setup for Nailheads mentioned, if anyones interested)
I'd guess the 264 at about $150.00..the 322 about the same...I bought a '56 322 a few years ago..froze...$75.00
Tell me more about the stick set-up. Is it for the 264 or the 322? And how complete is it? (Quick list: Bellhousing, lower bellhousing sheetmetal cover, throw-out arm, flywheel, clutch/pressure plate, and trans) And is it a 5- or 6-bolt transmission. For anyone reading this, everyone I've talked to who knows about these things has said the flywheel isn't the same for the 322 and 264, and the 5-bolt trans won't live behind a 322. Hell, the one I've got didn't live behind the 264! Also, the blocks are different for the 264 and 322. Cranks and heads will interchange, but the 264 can't be bored to 322. And not to put too fine a point on the whole thing, but the pistons and heads are year-specific: '53 and '54 won't interchange, '54-early '55 are the same, mid-'55-'56 are the same. I forget which years had a harmonic balancer, too, and whether it was just the 264 that didn't have them or if it was a year thing. Finally, '55 engines came with a windage tray in the pan, no others did. '55-earlier cams/lifters are also different than '56-up lifters. Cam material was different (which also makes the distributor gear different). The good 322s to get are the '56--latest design for the intakes (they did several designs of them from '53-'56), cams and lifters are the most affordable, and the exhaust manifolds are the largest diameter (2.5-inch outlets). Just trying to add a little info. The 4-bbl carb and intake is a good piece, and would do nicely on the 264. -Brad
