I had a 57 Pontiac Star Chief that color 53 years ago. It was 2 tone and that was the lighter color. Just beautiful?
interesting how many sectioned but UNCUT tops, customs are FOR SALE.. Just an observation, ( after all that work, are they tired of lookin' at it ? )
Looks to be a combo of a few things. Wheels are turned to the left, causing some jacking, which just so happens to equal that weird asphalt/gravel line on the ground. If you look through the rear window, that railing shows that the car is slightly leaning due to the wheel jacking. And a few background objects also 'unbalance' the photo which seems to exacerbate the lean.
This car was built by Doug Fernandis of Rocky Hill, CT some where around 1961 while a Senior in High School..Color was Emerald Green, Pontiac engine..Pic looks to be from Hartford Autorama car show [61-62] I think promoted by Frank Marotta future builder of Connecticut Dragway..Pic was in Car Craft Mag., March, 62. I was 13, had a heart throb for this car! ..
I love customs but man, some of these cars are so out of proportion. That purple shoebox above just looks way wrong. I appreciate all of the work but that sedan roof just overwhelms the car. Needs a chop to look right in my opinion.
95% of 50s and 60s cars look so dumb sectioned and unchopped in my mind... Cant fathom it by any stretch... I'm a tall guy and maybe that's why I cant see it.. NOW model a's done up sectioned and chopped look cool but I wouldn't ever own one, too short for my big ass. SOME sections done tastefully to match body proportions to roof on a already low roof car, that's something I can see... 50 merc, 2" section to give the LOOK... Same with buicks and caddys... But they have long and low roofs, that's what make them work, big tall roofs look stupid like someone farted then ignited causing explosion inside pushing roof up on the car.
