Heres a pic of the inside of the door. Need to do a piecut near the edge of the door, its in green marker if you can see. The widest part of the outside of the door was not the same as the inside.

Had some trouble trying the hammer and dolly on the fender. The seem on the fender had a peek, don't know if I hit it too hard or too much, but I got a small crack. I wound up doing some tacks on the backside, till they overlapped and was a full weld bead. Planning on grinding the surface welds and leaving it. Any suggestions?

drill out the ends of the crack then back fill the weld....the hole will stop the crack from spreading

Braced up the car, and started cutting the roof. Decided on a 3" chop, knew I had to move the rear window forward, didn't look right just laying it down. Cut the curve in the side rear window, brought it forward. Next day off I'll do the relief cuts on the A posts, and weld them up, and move the B post to match.

If there was ever a car in need of sectioning, this is it. Can´t wait to see it rolled outside.

Got some more done today, lined up the A posts, cut relief cuts, welded. Started cutting the B posts and fitting those. Got the door in to see how it looks. The car really needed sectioning with those big slab doors. Can't move it out to take a good look at it for a while, got my 1946 IH K2 parked behind it along with piles of parts. Thanks for the positive replys!

Had some time in the garage and all I got done was the filler in the 1st gap by the C post. Its going to take a long time spotwelding this whole thing back together. I was planning on buying an autodarkening helmet, but I'm also wondering about a Meco midget and torch setup instead.

Got to do some more work on the rear window. Tacked in the filler pieces. Had some problems on it, factory lead on the rear corners below the windows, can't weld to lead. First picture you can see the outline of the lead. Looking good with the gaps filled in. Wish I could weld this with oxy-acetylene, would be nice to fill with lead too.

Started on the trunk, still have to finish welding it and tweaking the seams, its just set on the hinges not adjusted, just to make sure I cut off the right amount and right place. Just ordered a Miller auto darkening helmet today, should help with neck pain from constantly flipping down the helmet!

Save the drip rails when ya chop it,looks much better. The b piller is already slanted, cool.I like the 2 inch section and the way you relieved the door skin, slid down and trimmed off the bottom.Nice job. The mild section job is a lot of work but well worth it when finished. It is a suttle overall change that will give it THE LOOK! Your going to turn a lot of heads when ya drive by.

Started on the rear fender, learned alot on this, took my time and really paid attention to hammer and dollying of the welds. Just got some spots done to start, but I could tell how the metal shrinks around the weld, and got it flat again. It was important on this because it was caved in near the top, turned out pretty good. Huge difference with my new auto-darkening helmet. Only one bolt is holding the fender on, but I get the idea of wheel clearance. Definately going the C-notch, and seriously thinking of notching the front suspension too. The engines not going to bring it down enough, and dropped spindles for a dakota are around $350, frames already been cut up, whats alittle more?
