My project is a 1941 Chevy in truly remarkable condition. I bought it from the original owners family. The body and interior is pristine for a car this old. However the old 216 "slash and dip" is very tired, the tran, is totally worn out. I acquired a fresh rebuilt 261 out of a 1953 Corvette (also used in the two ton trucks and school bus.) I had a fresh T-5 trans, built with stronger Camero Gears and found a 1970 Chevelle rear end with a brand new posi pumpkin. I got a pair of new cast iron dual exast. manifolds and a twin carb intake manifold set up. The question is what carbs to use? There must be someone out there that has built a straight Chevy Six for performance and reliability to render some opinions about what carbs are best for my application.
Yes, there must be. And if you use the search function, you'll find some of them and build discussions right here on the HAMB.
I really like the 2 barrel Webbers I have on mine. http://www.langdonsstovebolt.com/st...32-36-Carburetor/p/15456403/category=18665948

Hi & welcome. I second the Webbers as that is what I have on my 1957 235 engine in my 46 Coupe. No problems at all with these but it took a bit of engineering on the throttle linkage from accelerator pedal. That was due to me keeping the foot starter ****on and original pedal. Had to reverse and modify the bell crank on the side of block and then a Lokar cable set up to carb linkage. This was because original linkage pulled straight down and Webber dual linkage pulls toward the firewall. Jimmie
