I'm one of those guys who has a hamb log in but never posts. Generally I'm happy with stopping by and just checking things out. But I saw this and it really peaked my curiosity. I found this set up on eBay. I've never seen one like it before. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HILB...-EDELBROCK-CIRCLE-TRACK_W0QQitemZ110140060386 My initial guess is that it is an injection set up for a crank mounted supercharger (Potvin?) converted for use on a carb manifold. If you look at the auction listing, the "Hilborn" name is cast upside down. If you mounted the throttle body on it's side then the name would be cast in the right direction. But parts of it are anondized red- not something I would imagine seeing on an old school Hilborn set up. Anyone?
thats like a rons flying toilet and it is intended to be on that way , work with alky , pure race stuff and need a belt driven fuel pump ......look on net under flying toilet.
That's what I thought when I first saw it too. If you look at the pictures on the listing you can see "Hilborn" cast into the aluminum. It's definately not a flying toilet.
I don't wanna argue over anything, Its just plain bad***!!!!!! I wonder if The "toilet" Type application is availiable for street use? Not necesssarily vintage or old stuff(I know there is Hilborn, but thats like finding a needle in a hay stack, and you gotta have some bucks) Then again Rochester also, but possibly an aftermarket for uhm small block Fords? Or Flatheads? That set up would look cool as hell on a Tricked out flatty. I am not tooo hiup on the annodizing though. Maybe if it were on a more modern rod or a mscle car. Im gonna look around see what I find. I know there has to be some less expensive injection kits out there.... It's early I'm medicated slap me around
I have posted this picture before but here it is again. 4.6 Ford SOHC throttle bodies converted to run With Hilborn mechanicals. These come with sel ball bearings on the throttle shafts and cost about $20 each at junk yards. The have a 2 9/16 bore but you can get Nissan throttle bodies that are 90mm, a little over 3 1/8. I have built 5 of these things and they work as well as real Holborns, because I am using a Hilborn pump, metering block, hoses, and nozzles. I usually use my own return pill box with Holley jets instead of Hilborn pills. I also incorporate seperate nozzles connected to an electric pump to use when starting.
