I got same situation! Soaked block for 3 months so far, Marvel Mystery oil, P.B. Blaster, AND ****** fluid. I'll dig it out of corner next month and see the results.
I had a 348 soaking in Marvel oil for 6 months and it didnt unstick it. then i tried the Coke trick for 4 months refilling every 3-6 days and nothing. I put the White vinigar in 3 days ago and BAM!!! it already turns 60 degrees. I expect by next week it will be 100% free and I can take it appart easy.
Ditto on that. Acid causes hydrogen embrittlement in steel, and is really bad on steel castings. Consider that block s****, also sheet metal that is acid dipped is also a lot more suspectible to cracking (just like the engine block is now). The best thing would have been to put the block into a 55 gallon barrel with enough diesel to completely submerge it, and forget about it for a couple of weeks or so.
had stuck pistons in a pontiac block. got a short piece of iron pipe about a foot long. threaded on both ends. screwed a cap on each end and hammered them out. broke 2, walls looked fine. Let the lubricant (Diesel fuel, mystery oil etc) stay in the cylinders until you see it coming out the the bottom. then hammer away.
I too have just beat all 8 pistons out of a 348. I tried the Coke trick after reading about it on this post. Thanks for the usefull info and it worked for me. Lost pistons but saved rods and the block looks OK. LIFTER BORES; NASCar allows the chevy engines to over bore lifters and run the Ford ones. But I understand that the Mopar ones works and are bigger yet. Just my 2 cents worth.
